The purpose of the University's office of Licensing and Technology Development is to ensure rapid transfer of Hopkins' innovations to the private sector where these discoveries can be developed for the public benefit.  The office keeps a database of inventions and patents available for licensing,  and publishes articles relating to patenting and licensing issues and practices in conjunction with the Office of the Vice Dean for Research at the School of Medicine.
